Failure: No suction

Causes

1) Air leakage in suction line or  packing

2) Wrong rotation direction or damaged impeller;

3)Blocked suction line

Solutions

1) Stop air leakage

2) Check rotation direction

3)Remove any blockage

Failure: Shaft power too high

Causes

1) Packing gland too tight;

2) Hot packing;

3) Bearing damaged, or over-tight belt of driving unit;

4) Over-high pump flow, excessive speed, large specific weight;

5)Unaligned or unparallel motor shaft and pump shaft; 

Solutions

1) Loosen the nut of packing gland

2) Eliminate friction, replace shaft

3) Adjust belt

4) Adjust working condition of pump, adjust speed

5)Adjust motor shaft and pump shaft

Failure: Bearing too hot

Causes

1) Excessive or insufficient bearing lubricant;

2) Impurities in lubricant;

3) Bearing damaged;

4) Unaligned or unparallel motor shaft and pump shaft;

5)Shaft bent 

Solutions

1) Properly add lubricant

2) Replace lubricant

3) Substitute new bearing

4) Adjust motor shaft and pump shaft

5)Replace shaft

Failure: Short service life of bearing

Causes

1) Friction in pump or unbalanced impeller;

2) Unwanted materials in bearing, or improper amount of lubricant;

3)Improper assembly of bearing;

Solutions

1) Eliminate friction, substitute new impeller

2) Clean bearing

3)Replace bearing or re-assemble bearing

Failure: Severe leak at packing

Causes

1) Packing severely worn;

2) Shaft sleeve severely worn;

Dirty seal water

Solutions

1) Substitute new packing

2) Clean bearing

Replace bearing or re-assemble bearing

Failure: Noisy vibration of pump

Causes

Bearing damaged     

2) Unbalanced impeller

3) Air intrusion in suction pipe   

4) Uneven flow due to blockage

5) Pump off

Solutions

1) Replace bearing  

2) Replace impeller

3) Eliminate air intrusion   

4) Eliminate blockage

5) Improve feeding of pump
